FT #FACup : Sutton United 0-2 Arsenal

HEADS HELD HIGH

Sutton United 0 Arsenal 2: Sutton’s magical FA Cup run is ended as Theo Walcott bags his 100 Arsenal goal in gritty encounter

The National League outfit battled hard, even hitting the crossbar in the second half, but ultimately fell short in their huge game as the Gunners march on to face Lincoln in quarter finals

THE dream is over for Sutton United, but they will take the plaudits after battling right until the end in going down 2-0 to Arsenal in their FA Cup fifth round clash.
Lucas Perez scored the opener in the first half, and then Theo Walcott bagged his 100th goal for Arsenal to ensure safe progression into the quarter-finals where they face another non-league outfit in Lincoln City.
But Sutton fans will still look back fondly on the tie, as their heroes battled until the final whistle, and were perhaps left reflecting on some missed chances that cost them dear.

Sutton were defending heroically for 26 minutes of the game, but were all out sea for the opener. Perez brought the ball forward and his pass into the box ended up creeping straight past Ross Worner in the goal.
